The Multicenter PhD Program in Mathematics in Minas Gerais is the result of a collaboration between five public universities in the state — UFMG (coordinating institution), UFJF, UFU, UFV, and UNIFEI — with the goal of consolidating mathematical research among the various academic centers in Minas Gerais and further projecting existing scientific production onto the national and international stage.

Created from a joint effort initiated in 2019, the program arises from dialogue between already established research groups, which recognized the need to integrate expertise and broaden the impact of mathematical research developed in Minas Gerais. In 2025, the doctoral program will begin its first class, with the aim of expanding access to postgraduate studies in mathematics, fostering academic exchange between institutions, and strengthening the state’s scientific presence in broader collaborative networks.

In close alignment with the Minas Gerais Mathematics Network, to which it maintains academic and institutional ties, the program reinforces existing initiatives and contributes to the consolidation of a cohesive, articulated, and active mathematical community. This collaborative base not only strengthens regional ties but also creates favorable conditions for the advancement of research at broader levels.

With this innovative and cooperative structure, the Multicenter Doctorate seeks to offer excellent training, foster joint scientific production, and value the diversity of contexts and contributions that enrich mathematics in Minas Gerais, with a focus on strategic insertion in the national and international scientific landscape.
